VW Atacama

Volkswagen has created the perfect set of wheels for the survivalist.

Taking some cues from the all wheel drive Syncro van from the 1990s, Volkswagen's new Atacama is a van design study that's [hopefully] set to become a limited production reality and 100 vehicles could be made.

The study is named after a South American desert and has all the gear needed to keep you safe in the wild. There's also a roof rail and carrier system to strap all your essential supplies should you need additional space.

A 2.5-litre turbodiesel - good for a respectable 161bhp - powers the Atacama through the same six-speed gearbox as the Kombi.
